A quiet signal came through the metrics this week. It was the first measurable engagement on the curation model. The shop: Wurmkiste (Wormsystems GmbH), a family-run Austrian workshop that builds wooden worm composters by hand in Upper Austria.

Wurmkiste — which translates to "worm box" — is the product line of Wormsystems GmbH, based in Andorf, Upper Austria. The company designs, builds, and sells wooden worm composters and vermicomposting supplies from its own workshop. This is not a reseller or a dropshipper: the worm boxes are made by hand, in-house, from Austrian timber.

## What Makes Them Regenerative
We vetted Wurmkiste against the same standard we apply to every shop on the partner index. Their regenerative credentials are grounded in the product itself, not in marketing language:
**Own production from Austrian timber.** The flagship DIE Wurmkiste is built from 3-layer spruce plywood, hand-assembled in the Andorf workshop. The larger outdoor model (Große Wurmkiste) uses 3-layer larch, also Austrian-made. Both are durable, repairable materials — not plastic, not single-use, not imported from a distant factory.
**Closes the household waste loop.** The system is designed for a full organic cycle: kitchen biowaste goes in, worm humus (living soil) comes out. The worms consume the waste and convert it into nutrient-rich compost that can be used directly in garden soil, balcony planters, or indoor pots.
**Climate-positive claim within 6 months.** Wurmkiste's own analysis states that a Wurmkiste becomes climate-positive within six months of use — meaning the carbon sequestered by the diverted organic waste and the resulting soil improvement outweighs the emissions from manufacturing and shipping the composter. This claim is made on the shop's own site, not independently verified by us, and we present it as their claim, not our conclusion.

The product line is focused on the worm composter itself — a single well-designed object — plus the biological inputs to run it.
**DIE Wurmkiste (original wooden worm composter).** The flagship: a hand-built 3-layer spruce plywood box designed for indoor or sheltered outdoor use. Available as a self-build set or finished product, with or without a seat. Price range: €239–€398.60 depending on configuration.
**Große Wurmkiste (larch, indoor/outdoor, 1–6 persons).** A larger, outdoor-capable model built from 3-layer Austrian larch, sized to handle the waste of a 1–6 person household. Price range: €499–€629.70.

The Referral Click from Wurmkiste is the first real signal that the curation model is functional, not just theoretical. A real visitor, on a real page, with a real click to a real shop. The numbers are tiny — one click — but the mechanism is confirmed: vetting creates trust, and trust creates action.
Wurmkiste joined the partner index because it meets every requirement of our process: real workshop production in Austria, verifiable materials and construction, a regenerative product that genuinely closes a household waste loop, and transparent pricing.
