For months, the most frequent question our concierge has received from Norway has been the same one: "Can you get bokashi bran shipped to Norway?" We answered it in a blog post earlier this summer, pointing to Wurmwelten.de as the best available option — but the honest truth was that no Norwegian bokashi specialist was vetted on our index yet.
That changed this week. Bokashinorge (Bokashi Norge AS), a Nesodden-based company founded in 2015 by three local composting enthusiasts, is now the first Nordic entry in the Grown. curated partner index. It ships bokashi starter kits, bran refills, and accessories across Norway from its own warehouse — and it is the only Norwegian bokashi supplier we have verified to our standard.
## Who They Are
Bokashinorge is the consumer-facing brand of Bokashi Norge AS, a Norwegian limited company (org.nr 923 456 570 Mva) based at Hellvikveien 10, 1459 Nesodden. The company was founded in 2015 by three local enthusiasts on the Nesodden peninsula, and has been owned by Hogne and Asgeir since June 2021. It is Norway's authorised distributor of the Bokashi Organko system, and has built a network of 90+ retail partners including physical garden centres such as Hageland and Mester Grønn.
This is not a dropshipper or a redirect hub. Bokashinorge operates its own inventory, its own checkout (via ASP.NET with Vipps, Klarna, Visa, and Mastercard), and its own logistics through Bring, the Norwegian postal service. Customers in Norway can add products to a cart, check out in NOK, and receive deliveries to their door.
## The #1 Concierge Question, Answered
The recurring question — "Do you ship bokashi bran to Norway?" — now has a direct answer: yes, from Bokashinorge. Their flagship products include:
**Eko startpakke — svart (kr 1,640).** A complete bokashi starter kit including a fermentation bucket made from 100% recycled household plastic, a drain tap, and bokashi bran to get started immediately. The bin is from the Bokashi Organko range, and the recycled-plastic claim is verified on the product page.
**Bokashistrø 4 kg (kr 730).** Bokashi bran refill — fermented wheat bran inoculated with Effective Microorganisms (EM). This is the consumable that keeps the system running. A 4 kg bag lasts a typical household several months.
Both products ship within Norway only — a deliberate limitation for a Norway-Norway business. Bokashinorge is designed to serve the Norwegian market, not the EU at large. The shipping page confirms delivery via Bring with standard rates (kr 149 under 999 kr).
## Regenerative Credentials
We vetted Bokashinorge against the same standard we apply to every shop on the partner index. Their regenerative credentials, verified through documented desk research:
**100% recycled household plastic bins.** The Eko startpakke's fermentation buckets are made from 100% recycled household plastic — confirmed on the product page. This closes a material loop: household plastic waste becomes a durable composting tool that enables further waste reduction.
**Authorised EMRO distributor.** Bokashinorge is an authorised distributor of EM (Effective Microorganisms) Technology™, a naturally occurring microbial consortium that improves soil microbiome health when fermented waste is returned to the earth. Note: the EMRO distributor certificate expired on 2021-12-31; the distribution relationship is independently corroborated via the Bokashi Organko official shop finder, but the current certification status is a gap worth noting.
**Remonter sheltered-employment partnership.** Since 2016, Bokashinorge has partnered with Remonter, a sheltered employment company (attføringsbedrift) that provides meaningful work for people with reduced work capacity. A dedicated page on the Bokashinorge site (/vi-pakker-bokashin-din) documents the partnership with operations detail and photos — this is social regeneration in practice, not a one-line mention.
**Anti-peat stance.** Bokashinorge explicitly takes a stand against peat use in gardening: "Torv er en miljøversting" (peat is an environmental villain) appears on their about page and bokashi education pages. They promote peat-free gardening throughout their blog and product recommendations.
**Educational blog (bokashibloggen).** The site includes a dedicated blog sharing knowledge on bokashi composting, peat-free gardening, and soil health — freely available to anyone, regardless of whether they buy from Bokashinorge.
**Intrinsically circular product.** The core product — bokashi composting — is regenerative by design. Food waste enters the bin, microbes ferment it, and the output returns to soil as nutrient-rich compost. No external inputs beyond the bran. No waste stream. Every kilogram of food waste diverted from landfill avoids methane emissions and becomes soil instead.
**Limitation noted:** Bokashinorge does not hold a current third-party regenerative certification such as B Corp, ROC, COSMOS, or Soil Association. The expired EMRO certificate (2021) is the only formal certification on record. The regenerative practices described above are intrinsic to the business model rather than externally certified — we present them as verified practices, not certified claims.
## Why This Matters for the Grown. Index
Bokashinorge is the first Nordic entry in our partner index — the first shop we have vetted that ships into Norway from within Norway. It fills a verified demand gap: the recurring concierge question about bokashi in Norway, the Norway shipping guide as one of our best organic pages, and the reality that none of our 68 previously indexed European shops covered this territory.
The R2 waiver (Norway-only shipping) was approved by our Chief of Staff on the basis of Norway's EEA membership, the verified demand signal, and the transparent shipping scope tag on the listing. This exception applies only to Norway-EEA shops; non-EEA country-exclusive shops require independent verified-demand cases.
